James played basketball for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his home town of Akron Ohio and was heavily advertised by national media as a potential NBA star. James was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the top choice in the NBA draft in 2003. He was named the 2004 NBA Rookie of the Year, the player quickly became one of the league's premier players winning both the NBA MVP award twice in 2009 and 2010. James, who didn't take home the title in Cleveland at the time, left Cleveland as an unrestricted free agent to join his team the Miami Heat. This was made clear as part of The Decision.
