Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born Ottawa, Canada, on June 1, 1974. Alanis' Greek is a male version of the surname her father's name. Georgia is the full name of her mother. She has two brothers with her, Chad and Wade. She began playing piano when she was just six and began playing guitar at 21. In 1986, Alanis released a single titled Fate Stay with me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Then, in Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums: Alanis (in 1991) and The Time Is The Time in 1992. After turning 18 she made the move from NYC to Toronto and her attempts to collaborate with songwriters and musicians didn't work out. Her first love came to her in the year 1994: Glen Ballard. He had previously worked with artists including Aretha, Michael Jackson, and Barbra. After moving to LA the singer turned 19. Madonna came out with "Jagged Little Pill" the song on June 13th in 1995. Alanis had found an intimate, personal technique for writing songs. JLP is the third highest-selling album in history and has been purchased thirty million times across the globe. It was a time of intense emotional conflict (she thought about not recording another album) and made a trip to India. Alanis Alanis Alanis
